Today we’ll talk about building healthy habits.
Creating an exercise habit can be hard!
Things come up. Priorities change. It can be easy to put off doing your exercises.
However, keeping up with your program is incredibly important to ensure you get as many benefits as possible.
There are a variety of things you can do to help make incorporating exercise into your life easier.
Tip 1:
Set a Schedule
Sticking to a regular exercise schedule and not missing any days helps you build a long-lasting habit.
Try and find dedicated days and times that work for you to incorporate your exercises.
All you need is 3 days a week!
Try to find 3 dedicated days that work for you to do your exercises. This could be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Or Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Taking a day off between exercise days helps make sure you don’t experience too much muscle soreness and allows your body to recover.
Find some days that work for you and try not to miss them no matter what. If you do miss a day, that's ok. But try not to miss two days in a row!
Tip 2
Find a Set Time
When you don’t have a specific time set aside to do your exercises it can be easier to put them off.
Try and find a set time each day that is dedicated to doing your exercises.
This could be at 7am before heading to work, midday after eating lunch, or an hour after eating dinner.
Tip 3
Combine Activities
There are often plenty of times of the day where you’re winding down and relaxing.
These times can be great times to incorporate your exercises.
Do you watch TV in the evening? Why not try and do your exercises while you’re watching TV each evening?
This can help make your exercises more enjoyable without having to find additional dedicated time!
Tip 4
Use an Activity Diary
Ticking off the days you've completed your exercises helps you see all the progress you've made and will inspire you to keep going!
